Interesting that Shah has played 11 Tests at 29 and Rashid is in his first series at nearly 28.

If you ever come across it I would recommend the story of Jack Iverson written by the brilliant Gideon Haigh.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mystery-Spinner-Story-Jack-Iverson/dp/1854108557

To be honest I don't give a shit who 'invented' a style of bowling. Just seems a lot of these mystery spinners are glorified chuckers who are at last being cleared out.
Will be interested to see how this Crane develops as he obvious has the talent ..... county cricket is obviously a hard place for leg spinners to develop.

In the midst of it all despite all the SHIT Shane Warne gets he obviously has the future of leg spin at heart by spending time with both Shah and Rashid this week.
Believe he even spoke to Cook about captaining leg spinners!
Unlike other sports I think its a good thing that cricketers (GREAT CRICKETERS) are willing to pass on knowledge to cricketers from other countries.
I understand Wasim Akram did something similar with Mitchell Starc a couple of years back.

The only other spinner as exciting as Crane in recent years was the arrival of Mendis.

But his novelty soon wore off.

Created a generation of new style bowlers, e.g. Ashwin, Narine.

Although I'm sure Australia will try and take credit for that with Gleeson and Iverson.

We'll find out how good he is this summer, M4E son.

I remember similar excitement about Sunil NARINE (although granted his was based more on t20 and Shah has done well in red ball cricket) and we took him apart before revealing him as a cheat.

I could have told him that?

There's only two International class leggies in the world.

Yasir Shah and Mason Crane.

Warne working with both Rashid and Shah.

Says after that Shah is the best leg spinner in the world.

You are probably right.

Seems a bit petty but don't understand why NZ didn't insist on either playing at the SCG or at a ground in Queensland.
Preferred the old days where there was a buildup to a series from the visiting team arriving a month before the First Test and playing 3 or 4 proper games.

I think you're looking into this a little bit too deeply Sven, I think this is just your garden variety Australian stitchup.

The good news is that the match fixers all got on Aaron Finch as top scorer.

Well done Chris, Lou , Daniel, Darryl and Brendon.

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan v England at Dubai
Be interested to know what was on at the SCG

Not sure why they couldn't have insisted on a ground in Brisbane other than the Gabba as the Sheffield Shield games are on in Melbourne, Hobart and Adelaide.

Of NZ will be loving being offended like this.

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan v England at Dubai
"Availability" was the reason given for playing at the Blacktown International Sportspark.

I presume it was the shittest pitch available.

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan v England at Dubai
Pretty sure it'll be because they're scared of NZ so try to make sure their warm up is irrelevant as possible.

It's how fats0 Lehmann likes to work.

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan v England at Dubai
I am not sure what has happened here or why they haven't played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (NSW are away in Adelaide).
They have just had the domestic one day competition at various grounds around Sydney but seems odd to play out in the western suburbs.

NZ asked originally for the game to be reduced from 4 days to 3.
It wasn't clear as to whether they wanted to practice more in Brisbane or concentrate on watching the rugby WC final.

Mark Wood to be rested from the 3rd Test due to his chronic ankle problems.

NZ's final warm up match at Blacktown, Sydney abandoned as the pitch thought too dangerous to bat on
Cricket Australia XI 503/1 d
New Zealand .... declined to bat

Groundsman reckons freak weather conditions caused the pitch to become unsafe on the second day which resulted in NZ not using their fast bowlers and not fancying a bat on it.

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan v England at Dubai
better bowling would have won the 1st test match. relying on the light on the fifth day is not the smartest option.

pak bowled better. the better team won on this occasion.

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan v England at Dubai
Could have been a very different scoreline in the series had bad light robbed this test and not the 1st. Shame really, but something for Rashid to build on for the future.

Re: 2nd Test Pakistan v England at Dubai
great win by pakistan.

only england can waste time, appeal etc..

paks seam/pace attack will do well over here, batting is weaker than englands so should be a good series

Agreed. Rashid's time-wasting tactics were disgusting.
